In March 2007, NOGA announced that it had opened a new licensing round for four offshore exploration and production (E&P) projects. Bahrain could double its oil production under these development plans which would give its economy a massive boost. Responding to the growth and vitality of the Offshore industry in the Middle East and following the hugely successful 2008 event, Offshore Middle East Conference and Exhibition (OME) 2009 will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain. 

Offshore Middle East 2009, the only event dedicated to offshore oil and gas technology in the Middle East, will be held on 27 – 29 October 2009 in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. OME provides a forum where industry leaders can address technical issues, introduce pioneering technology and share lessons learned about finding, developing and producing oil and gas in Middle East offshore regions.
